A Conversation with Aeron Povey, VP of Marketing at Nasco Healthcare

Heather
Welcome to WorldPoint’s Vendor Spotlight, where we shine a light on the top innovators and industry leaders who are driving the future of training. Today, we're sitting down with Aeron Povey, Vice President of Marketing at Nasco Healthcare. Welcome, Aeron.

Aeron
Thank you.

Heather
Nasco is a company that's been at the forefront of medical simulation and training for decades. WorldPoint and Nasco Healthcare have shared a strong strategic partnership for years, working together to deliver high quality, realistic training tools, to CPR, healthcare and emergency response professionals. And today, we'll hear more about Nasco's journey, their newest innovations like Alex Gen AI, and the latest Airway Larry trainer and get a sneak peek at what's coming next! So with that said, let's, let's dive in! Okay. So to start, can you share the story behind Nasco Healthcare and what inspired its founding as a leader in medical simulation training?

Aeron
Absolutely! So, Nasco actually didn’t start out in healthcare at all—its roots are in agriculture. The company’s been around for about 85 years. When I asked the team to share some history with me, they pulled out some legacy PowerPoints that were really fun—there were things like a house of arts and crafts, frog labs, and farming.

There’s a robust and fascinating history behind Nasco. We got into healthcare around 1999, when Nasco acquired both Simulaids and Life/form. Those became the foundation of what’s now Nasco Healthcare. We still get questions today about the difference between Simulaids and Life/form—that’s where it all began on the healthcare side.

But even then, the inspiration was the same as it is today: to create accessible, affordable, and durable healthcare training tools so professionals can be ready to save lives. Accessibility is something that’s deeply important to us.

Heather
Well that's fantastic. I didn't know about some of that background, so thank you for sharing!

Aeron
I didn’t either until I needed to do some research for this! Yeah.

Heather
That's very cool. Nasco Healthcare has built a strong reputation in the industry. What sets your brand apart? And what is your mission when it comes to advancing training and preparedness?

Aeron
Great question. I had my own perspective on this, but over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with many of our customers and end users to validate it. And the feedback was really consistent across the board.

People said, “Nasco Healthcare is our one-stop shop.” With more than 4,400 products, we’re unmatched in terms of breadth of offering. Add to that our five-year warranty, the durability and value of our products, and how accessible we make high-quality training—it all really stands out. Plus, we're ISO 9001 certified, which speaks to our quality standards.

But what really sets us apart is our people. Our customers repeatedly mention how much they enjoy working with us and how much we genuinely care. And that’s something we don’t want to lose, no matter how much we grow or evolve.

We also start almost every meeting with our mission and vision—to help healthcare professionals be ready to save lives and improve patient outcomes. If what we’re discussing doesn’t serve that mission, we walk away from it. Staying grounded in that is really unique, and it's part of what makes us who we are.

Heather
Oh, that's really cool to hear how...how you all stay grounded in your mission and incorporate that into everything you do. That that's really cool. Thank you. So WorldPoint and Nasco have been partners for years. How has our collaboration evolved and what do you value the most about working together?

Aeron
Honestly, just being here today with you is proof of how far our partnership has come. We’re spending two full days together—doing hands-on training, collaborating, figuring out how to work even better together. That speaks volumes. We’re incredibly grateful for a partner that’s so aligned with our vision and committed to shared success.

Innovation Spotlight: What’s New from Nasco Healthcare

The partnership between WorldPoint and Nasco is rooted in a shared passion for delivering impactful, accessible training. As Nasco continues to roll out cutting-edge tools that transform simulation training, Aeron walked us through their most exciting updates:

Heather
Now let's shift gears and talk about your products, especially some of the exciting innovations that you all have coming in 2025. With that said, can you introduce us to innovations like Alex Gen AI, the new auscultation trainer and Airway Larry, and how they meet the evolving needs of trainers and learners?

Aeron
Absolutely. Alex has actually been around for about eight years, but the new generative AI capabilities are truly groundbreaking. Because Alex has been collecting data that whole time, our AI model is very specialized—it’s not ChatGPT-based. It’s focused, nuanced, and tailored to the medical space.

We launched Alex Gen AI at IMSH in January, and since then we’ve already added 10 new languages thanks to its generative capabilities. The system offers real-time scenario customization, intelligent feedback, and automatic assessment logging—so instructors don’t have to manually track everything anymore. It’s the most patient-like interaction on the market today.

Our new auscultation trainer builds on the success of our previous version, now with LED anatomical landmarks, more realistic heart, lung, and bowel sounds, and the ability to upload your own custom sounds. Plus, it’s available with or without an iPad—if you already have one, you can just download the app.

And Airway Larry! It’s a staple. We recently updated it to better align with current training standards and improve the realism, but it's still the same rugged, reliable product people know and love.

Building on the Legacy of Industry Icons

Heather
Nasco Healthcare's product lineup includes industry staples like the STAT manikin, Dani, and Casualty Care Rescue Randy. Can you walk us through the development of one of these flagship products and what makes it so essential for training?

Aeron
Yes! I actually phoned a friend for this one—our amazing sales director, Shay, who’s a former paramedic. I asked her why SMART STAT Complete is her favorite, and she said, “Because it’s the bomb. No, seriously.”

She explained that it has incredibly realistic features—like fingernails and lips you can use to assess hypoxia, pericardiocentesis functionality, CO₂ canisters for real end-tidal CO₂ monitoring, customizable pulses, auscultation, IV, IO, urinary catheters, chest tubes, surgical airways—the list goes on. It’s a powerhouse for training, and that feedback really stuck with me.

Looking Ahead: Technology and Tactile Learning Combined

From AI to immersive simulation, Aeron shared his insight on where the industry is headed:

Heather
What trends do you see shaping CPR, healthcare and emergency response training in the coming years?

Aeron
All those trends I just mentioned will continue to evolve, but there’s also a need to stay grounded. As exciting as AI and digital solutions are, we can’t forget the importance of haptics and tactile feedback. Learners still need that hands-on experience—because at the end of the day, they’re treating real patients.

Advice for Educators and A Fun Fact!

Heather
For instructors and organizations looking to improve their training programs, what advice would you give on how to maximize the impact of Nasco Healthcare products?

Aeron
I’d actually flip that and say—start by identifying your learning gaps. Sometimes people think they need a high-tech solution, but what they really need is cues or task-based training. If we understand the problem first, we can offer a right-sized solution without overcomplicating things.

Heather
Before we wrap up, what's one fun or surprising fact about Nasco Healthcare or your team that most people might not know?

Aeron
Our team is truly global, and when I joined the team last year, I was surprised to learn many of them had never met in person. We gathered in Istanbul with 120 of our distributors and many team members. Even though they were meeting for the first time, the camaraderie was instant. That says a lot about our team culture and leadership style—it’s very people-first.

Final Thoughts

It’s clear that Nasco Healthcare is more than a product provider—they’re a mission-driven innovator, passionate about empowering trainers and learners alike. Through a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and customer-first values, WorldPoint and Nasco Healthcare continue to deliver the tools that prepare professionals to save lives.

Stay tuned for more Vendor Spotlights as we continue celebrating the partners shaping the future of training.

Keep training, keep learning, and keep making a difference.
