Realistic simulator allowing for demonstration and practice of all types of spinal injections, including spinal anesthesia, spinal tap, epidural analgesia, caudal analgesia, sacral nerve blocks, and lumbar sympathetic blocks.

• Realistic anatomy, including:
  • Visible L1 and L2 vertebrae in the top of the unit, including intervertebral disc, nerve roots, ligamentum flavum, and lumbar sympathetic chain
  • L3–L5 vertebrae, plus sacrum and coccyx, in the functional portion of the injection model
  • Precise 3–5 mm epidural space located between L2 and L5
  • Sacral hiatus between the two sacral cornua
  • Landmarks that students can palpate

• Realistic resistance and natural “give” as the spinal needle is advanced slowly into the proper space

  • Epidural analgesia, which may be taught by the loss-of-resistance technique
  • Caudal analgesia
  • Sacral nerve blocks
  • Lumbar sympathetic blocks
  • Cerebral-spinal fluid measurement, which can be taken using a standard manometer
• Both midline and lateral approaches may be practiced on the simulator.
